MOD4 plan
Module 4 Goals
List your longterm goal(s) of what you want to accomplish by the end of module 4
be armed with a capstone project and confidence that will allow me to feel strong about my job selection process
Strategy To Achieve Goals:
Not daley on tangential work but focus only on that knowledge which is needed to build out the app sufficiently
Start liining up emails for coffee meet ups with trello board peeps. Start to do casual feelers about what's out there and who i might want to work for. Boss shopping, and i like high quality.
I need to build a portfolio I can show off to people. Towards this end, I will:
Kick ass capstone project. If good enough could be IP buy out (there's precedent for this)
Opportunities Research:
see trello board link
also (unlisted here) extensive apple-notes work
Additionally:
1
What i want in a company:
Not wedded to a belief like this. Can cloud your objective vision in negotiations. If the work and people are interesting don’t worry about the industry it’s in.
2
MUST HAVE:
Mentorship (cement my position in this field and usher/inspire me on to new things)
Work for a leader not a boss
Balance with life
women/minorities (i can’t do bleached male office - just too much bro’ness)
4 week vacay (ill take pay cut for this)
Nice to Have:
In boulder
bike/run to workable
Dog friendly
Industry i’m interested in
Salary
3
Job search schedule
2 hours per week minimum during mod4 - block it off on the schedule proactively -
See trello board and apple-notes and start canvassing friends/network/networked “friends” for coffee to figure out what they need and if i’m interested and can i fulfill that
LOTS of coffee… work on getting java with one person per week in mod4 (boulder centric might make this trickier)
4
Goal Setting
After Turing i’d like to get a little travel in. Want to hit up PNW summer and ride a bit and maybe iceland trip with vanessa. In the process of this knuckle down on communication with trello board contacts and arranging for coffee meet ups when i’m in town. Use these settings to hone what it is i want in a role as well as find out which companies want someone like me in that role. Find a company where the relationship is mutual. Boss hunt more than job hunt. Finding someone willing to continue my learning curve and interested in my developement. Have something landed by october 1st. By September 1 travel should be complete and open up time for meeting with folks. 3 people per week as well as continued coding work. 2-3 hours per day coding on selected projects.
