Setup for Remote Control of Flame(Linux) via VNC

GENERAL NOTES:

-- For the sake of simplicity, I've referred to the Autodesk application as "Flame", since that's what I'm using, although this will probably work for any other Autodesk Linux system.

-- It's necessary to set up two vnc servers on two different ports - one, an X11 vnc server for accessing the GUI login screen of the machine in order to do the initial login to the Flame account and another vnc server - KDE Desktop Sharing - in order to effectively run the application - to support mouse clicks and proper screen refreshes. The port numbers used - 5902 and 5901 can be changed to whatever will work for your particular situation.

Modifying 'knife bootstrap' to exit with error upon failure.

Here is a description of the steps I took to cause knife bootstrap to exit with error when the remote bootstrap process fails. I was already calling the bootstrap programmatically (because I was adding a lot of business logic to it) so I didn't patch the bootstrap class but pulled out the pieces I needed.

1. Navigate to http://nodejs.org/download/ and on the Linux Binaries (.tar.gz) row click to download the 64-bit version of the current latest release.

2. Say you've downloaded node-v0.10.7-linux-x64.tar.gz into the Downloads directory. Then, open the terminal and type the following:

$ cd ~/Downloads
$ mkdir -p ~/local/node
$ tar xzf node-v0.10.7-linux-x64.tar.gz -C ~/local/node --strip-components=1
