Add git branch name to terminal prompt (mac)

Open up your bash profile file with

vim ~/.bash_profile

and at the end of that file, add:

# Git branch in prompt.
parse_git_branch() {
    git branch 2> /dev/null | sed -e '/^[^*]/d' -e 's/* \(.*\)/ (\1)/'
}
