The keyrepeat thing seem to be broken in sierra, it is so fast that when i hit backspace, it would delete an entire page of text in a fraction of a second.. I lost some work because of that... aware of any solution?

if I understood, use 'system prefs' from apple menu then choose keyboard.

I had the same issue and discovered that it was because I also was using a cooler master keyboard that itself modified the key repeat rate 8x. So when combining that with messing with the macOS defaults it was impossible to control and would result in key repeats buffering and continuing to repeat after letting go of the keyboard.
