We are performing this maintenance to improve instance reliability. Maintenance will be scheduled during your weekly maintenance window beginning on October 25th, 2016 at 00:00 UTC.

 US East (N. Virginia) - db2
 US East (N. Virginia) - db3

Once the update is available, you can choose to manually apply the update to your DB instance at your convenience or wait for the automatic maintenance process initiated by Amazon RDS during your weekly maintenance window. You can view when the update is available for your DB instance both on the RDS console and by using the Amazon RDS API. We recommend that you review the maintenance windows for impacted instances as they often default to the same timeframe.

Your DB instance will become unavailable for a short time, typically between 5 to 10 minutes, during the maintenance. This will be true for both Single-AZ and Multi-AZ instances.
