Discography: An exercise to learn some basic Ruby
# Write some classes to keep track of an artist's discography. Start by creating an
# artist, then an album, then songs. Add songs to the album and then add the
# album to the artist. Finally, call the discography method on the artist
# to print out a nice formatted string detailing that artist's discography.
# You should be able to use it like this:
nebyoolae = Artist.new('Nebyoolae')
cs13 = Album.new('Clocks Striking 13')

JavaScript Class Structure using requireJS. The following code shows you how to create a Class definition in one JavaScript file and then import it for use in another; coming from an ActionScript 3 background this (and some of JavaScript specific traits)
<!DOCTYPE html>

<script data-main="usage" src="http://requirejs.org/docs/release/1.0.8/comments/require.js"></script>

tmux cheatsheet

tmux cheat sheet

(C-x means ctrl+x, M-x means alt+x)

Prefix key

The default prefix is C-b. If you (or your muscle memory) prefer C-a, you need to add this to ~/.tmux.conf:

remap prefix to Control + a

A way to integrate FosUserBundle and HWIOAuthBundle

I have managed to install this… and make it work. I implemented it for Facebook and Google, but you can extend it. My solution it is mostly as described in #116, with a bit of more code presented. The key aspects that lack in the #116 presentation (IMO) are:

  • the registration as service of your custom FOSUBUserProvider (with the necessary parameters)
  • set the service for oauth_user_provider in the security.yml with your custom created service

Here are the steps:

  1. Routing. In routing.yml I have added all the routes for both bundles.
  2. Configuration. I have set the config.yml mostly as it is presented in the HWIOAuthBundle.
  3. Security. I have set the security.yml mostly as it is presented in the HWIOAuthBundle (though my routes are using /login pattern, not /connect). Also, the oauth_user_provider is set for my custom service.

58 bytes of css to look great nearly everywhere

58 bytes of CSS to look great nearly everywhere

When making this website, i wanted a simple, reasonable way to make it look good on most displays. Not counting any minimization techniques, the following 58 bytes worked well for me:

main {
  max-width: 38rem;
  padding: 2rem;
  margin: auto;
}

The Qlobe - by Yusuke Endoh

Qlobe

Qlobe is a fascinating example of quine in Ruby, submitted by a member of the Ruby core team - Yusuke Endoh.

Programs that output changed executable versions of themselves while managing to spin the globe and still remaining executable are cool, right?

To experience its magic, run the following

curl -fSSl https://gist.githubusercontent.com/shime/f0ebe84ca42c33b51d42/raw/5e74315dc6b6fe572f8a457536ad7eb17ad3f1e4/qlobe.rb > qlobe.rb; while true; do ruby qlobe.rb | tee temp.rb; sleep 1; mv -f temp.rb qlobe.rb; done
