The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

Hyrule Castle

  1. Get Torch in room.
  2. Left at entrance
  3. Two green guards, line up with bottom pole, move between right most walls
  4. Get boomerang in left room with guard.
  5. Chain guard: 2 pots or 8 slashes
  6. Cross, dark room: Key in right arm
  7. Rat holds key in left side of room
  8. Hold right on plunger room

Eastern Palace

Dungeon

  1. Optional: Left at fork and upstairs to grab 100 rupees for bottle
  2. Skeleton room: avoid middle room lines. Grab right pot, walk left until skull, few steps down, throw right, diagonal up-left, grab right pot, throw down, door opens
  3. Bow room 1: Ignore bow first time, you don't have the key. Pick up pot below right door for arrows
  4. Dark skeleton room: key in pot on the right wall near top
  5. Big key room: iframe skip using Popo (tentacle monster). Use vertical wall to line up on the left of the Popo, get it to knock you to the pot.
  6. Bow room 2: pick up pots below left door
  7. Dark room north of bow room: right Cyclops has key
  8. Anti-Fairy room: top-right, top-left, bottom-left

Boss

Line up on top-middle knights right side. Audio queue is end of boss intro jingle. Shoot five (5) arrows to the right, then go left and clean up the knights coming clockwise by shooting down.

Desert Palace

Overworld

  1. Get Pegasus Boots from old man.
  2. Side dash into wall above old man.
  3. Go to Library (path under castle, by Link's House)
  4. Optional: Go north to Kakariko Village to get bottles and bug net. One is through back entrace of building to the right of the southern entrance. Directly above is the bug net. Second bottle is from outdoor merchant near weather vane. Costs 100 rupees.
  5. Head south from Link's House to Desert Palace.

Dungeon

  1. Northwest.
  2. Torch key room: Graze past with boots and bonk wall.
  3. Stay up top, going to the right.
  4. South until first small key door, eventually find Big Key in room north of that one.
  5. Arrows in middle pot in northeast room.
  6. Back across the top, past torch key room to leftmost room.
  7. Diamond pot room: East pot has arrows. Northwest pot has button. North-northwest pot has arrows.
  8. Go south, then west, then exit south.
  9. Right middle block is trigger.
  10. Bottom-left pot has key.
  11. Key in pot second from right.
  12. Light torches to expand room. Switch to bow.

Boss

Dash north and bonk to line up. Same audio queue as Eastern Palace. Arrows and bombs deal 2 damage.

Tower of Hera

Overworld

  1. Leave Desert Palace and head to Death Mountain entrance. Fastest is past the castle, hugging the left.
  2. No need to dash with old man.
  3. Get mirror from man and continue to the top of the mountain.
  4. Go into warp, use magic mirror at the top of the right eye.

Dungeon

  1. Hit switch (BLUE)
  2. Left down stairs.
  3. Hit switch (RED) to get key and magic mirror out.
  4. Slash switch (BLUE), then throw boomerang below switch and past it and then immediately dash north to cause boomerang to hit switch (RED).
  5. Left door to tile room, hit switch (BLUE) and wait for tiles.
  6. Boomerang switch (RED) and go south.
  7. Torch room: equip Lamp, light torches, equip Mirror, open chest, use mirror
  8. Slash (BLUE) and again (RED) to go up the stairs to the right.
  9. Kill squids and hit switch (BLUE)
  10. Optional: hit switch (RED) to gain access to pots near boss for hearts
  11. Moon Pearl Bomb Jump: Equip bombs. Back up to just before pit, hugging right wall. Drop bomb, count to three, dash into wall on the left.

Boss

Six hits, no additional damage. Keep sword out to help buffer damage.

Agahnim's Tower

Overworld

  1. Head back down Death Mountain through cave below long stairs. Head to Lost Woods (north from Death Mountain entrance/exit)
  2. In diagonal room, pause buffer and switch to boomerang.
  3. Go through Lost Woods and get Master Sword.
  4. Optional: Master Sword run ends right here!
  5. Backtrack to the Mushroom, grab it, and head out the bottom right exit
  6. Head back to the castle, the same way you went when you first came to Death Mountain
  7. In the bottom of the castle, go left like at the beginning of the game, but head south in the left room

Dungeon

  1. In the double chain guy room, spin attack the guards by facing the door you came through, wait for the guards' shoes to touch, then move up and spin
  2. Arrow guard in the bottom of the room has a key
  3. You don't need to walk up to the bed, just go around immediately

Boss

  1. Every 5 attacks is lightning bolt, otherwise fight is same as casual

Palace of Darkness

Overworld

  1. Travel like you were heading to Eastern Palace
  2. You should have at least 110 rupees for Kiki
  3. Hedge maze is: around Old Man's house, left through vertical strip, north and then right through vertical strip, enter large part, southeast until dash east through exit
  4. Don't get hit! Kiki will stop following!

Dungeon

  1. Left door
  2. Bomb in top-right pot
  3. Switch under bottom left pot, grab key, use mirror
  4. Center door
  5. Bomb in left pot
  6. Right side, jump down
  7. Button under pot, get key, use mirror
  8. Center door
  9. Left side, bomb crack, fall through
  10. North locked door
  11. Get big key, use mirror
  12. Center door
  13. Right side, cross bridge
  14. Grab chest, move across, then left dash through beetle, key dash
  15. Cross bridge, go right, ignore chest, top left stairs
  16. South, avoid first chest, go around get second chest, go north
  17. Back to bridge room, go across to locked door
  18. Maze room: equip bombs, south, toss bomb, follow path around, get chest on bottom right
  19. Get hammer, use mirror
  20. Center door
  21. Right side, cross bridge
  22. Beetle room: shoot switch (BLUE) with arrow, rub against chest until you're JUST about to go under to line up
  23. Floor switch on right side, use statue
  24. Turtle room: Charged sword, hammer down, hammer down, spin, clean up other turtles
  25. Moveable block is northeast

Boss

Hold charged sword for protection. Hammer until two chips fall, then hammer 8 more times, then 8 hits after helmet is destroyed

Thieves' Town

Overworld

  1. Head to ocarina grove on the way to Kakariko
  2. Get shovel, mirror to Light World, dig in top left corner (lower right flower patch)
  3. Head to Kakariko, still in Light World
  4. Optional: if you skipped the bottles earlier, you can get them now
  5. Play ocarina at weather vane to unlock fast travel
  6. Play again and fly to Witch's Hut (#2)
  7. Give witch mushroom, leave screen, return back to hut to get Magic Powder
  8. Optional: Witch inside gives one full heal
  9. Play ocarina, return to Kakariko (#3)
  10. Head up into Lost Woods through far left entrance, circle around to get to middle exit
  11. Hammer post down and pick up rock to warp to Dark World
  12. Head to center, where Light World weather vane was, pull on the left side of the fork to open dungeon door

Dungeon

  1. Dash north, exit room north through northeast corner
  2. Immediate right
  3. Immediate down
  4. Dash down, go up stairs, immediately fall down, go west
  5. Grab Big Key
  6. Backtrack to other room, dash north, walk around totem to exit north of it
  7. Dash up stairs, dash north to Big Key door
  8. Key under right skull, dash down to first locked door you saw in this room
  9. Blob room, go across
  10. Spike room, key under skull, use skull from top of room to hit switch safely
  11. Floor switch under rightmost skull
  12. Conveyor room again, take first right door
  13. Right at fork

Boss

Dash to top and bonk to drag princess into light in the right position, slash a bunch to quick first cycle

Skull Woods

Overworld

  1. Bomb chicken coop, open chest for 300 rupees
  2. Head to when the library was and talk to the frog
  3. Head to dwarf's house through Kakariko
  4. Optional: grab half magic while you are here
  5. Turn in dwarf, leave, reenter, warp to Dark World, stand in doorway and warp back to get sword
  6. Head back into Kakariko, north to first house on that path for 300 more rupees
  7. Head north through Kakariko into Lost Woods
  8. Optional: fairies near Dark World fortune teller
  9. Enter dungeon through 2nd door

Dungeon

  1. Drag right statue to switch, boomerang mummies if necessary
  2. Get Big Key and use mirror
  3. Leave back into Woods, and reenter through door you passed
  4. Bomb jump: exact same timing and positioning as Tower of Hera bomb jump, get rod and mirror out
  5. Back out and back to the first entrance you used
  6. Keep going left and grab key from top left skull, and exit
  7. Head up as if heading to Master Sword and Fire Rod skull centipede
  8. Can diagonal move past center 4 stars
  9. Zombie has key

Boss

Mothula takes no damage from spikes. You need to hit him while he's near the center. Sword pushes, Fire Rod pulls

Ice Palace

Overworld

  1. Go to Light World, play ocarina, #4
  2. Go up to castle, warp to Dark World
  3. Move toward Witch's House in Dark World
  4. Travel to circle of stones, toss skull rock in, get Quake
  5. Mirror to Light World, go get flippers
  6. Use bottommost path
  7. Go immediately south after getting flippers
  8. Take whirlpool at entrance to Zora River
  9. Swim north to island, take warp to Dark World dungeon

Dungeon

  1. Fire Rod the ice monster
  2. Bottom jelly has key
  3. Cross room: Down, immediately back up, right, spin clear path to bottom skull and press switch, back left, finally up
  4. Throw bomb into bottom right corner to hit switch and destroy floor
  5. Stalfos room: pick up top left pot, toss, move up and drop bomb just above where pot used to be, move down and pick up bottom left pot, hold, walk down to wall, just before stalfos lands, toss pot into it to knock back into bomb explosion
  6. Second jelly has key, flip switch (BLUE)
  7. Bomb jump: moonwalk with sword to the left, 0-3 pixels shown on bottom triangle, drop bomb, slash and hold sword, move down for 1 pixel gap between bomb shadow and sword
  8. Optional: Room above block switch room has Anti-Fairy

Boss

After breaking ice with Fire Rod, position yourself on the bottom left of the boss and sword spin to knock all three pieces into the corner, and try and keep all the pieces together

Misery Mire

Overworld

  1. Mirror into Light World
  2. Ocarina to #1
  3. Climb mountain to tablet to get medallion
  4. Ocarina to #8
  5. North and west to bomb the crack and get Ice Rod
  6. Ocarina to #6
  7. Warp to Dark World
  8. Use Ether to open entrance

Dungeon

  1. Cross pit with bonk and holding to the right
  2. Left-up-right in maze
  3. Right at the fork
  4. Key in the top-left skull pot, go back to maze
  5. Follow snake to top-left stairs, dash down
  6. Jelly has key, flip switch (BLUE)
  7. Torch room: push blocks and use fire rods while they move to shoot over the blocks
  8. Jump down pit that opens and grab Big Key
  9. DO NOT GO TO BOSS DOOR YET, go east to get to main room
  10. Optional: Go across grating to get key
  11. Dash north to go back down stairs, down to bottom-right, and then through right wall door
  12. Collapsing bridge room: VERY QUICKLY dash along bottom to get past the start of the falling blocks
  13. If you didn't get the safety get, walk over spikes to hit switch and get key in here

Boss

As you enter, left slash and hold. Get inside and sword spin. Have sword facing away from the side you are hitting

Swamp Palace

Overworld

  1. Mirror to Light World, Ocarina to #4
  2. South then west to Dark World
  3. Go to drain building, mirror to Light World
  4. Drain the water and go back through the portal

Dungeon

  1. Key under bottom skull pot
  2. Down stairs and through north door
  3. Go back and up north stairs to locked door
  4. Flip water lever
  5. Same as before, down stairs and north
  6. Back up stairs to the main room
  7. North west locked door, flip switch (BLUE), flip water lever, flip switch (RED)
  8. Back through earlier door, go through moveable blocks
  9. Northwest and drop through hole
  10. Grab Big Key
  11. Back through door and down to head to main room
  12. Go up middle stairs and get Hookshot
  13. Hook to right and grab key under right skull pot
  14. Back to middle platform, hook up
  15. Push statue up, reveal floor switch, push statue, go right and up the left side door
  16. Down staircase and flip water lever
  17. In waterfall room, door is behind second from the right
  18. Optional: Arrows under top-right skull pot
  19. Swim right and grab key, then all the way left through locked door

Boss

Mostly same as casual, except fight in corner after clearing puff balls

Turtle Rock

Overworld

  1. You need 100 rupees to buy Big Bomb
  2. Head to your house in the Dark World
  3. Mirror to Light World
  4. Head to castle, which will warp you to Dark World again
  5. Explode bomb at crack, then toss in sword and bow
  6. Mirror to Light World, ocarina to #1
  7. Go right rather than to the summit
  8. Hookshot across bridge
  9. Go all the way to the right into the door
  10. Optional: Pile of rocks contains fairy
  11. Hammer stakes in right-top-left order
  12. Use Quake to open dungeon

Dungeon

  1. Main room, go left to second stop
  2. Torch room: platform and go north, Fire Rod down to hit both, then Fire Rod the two right side torches, hook torch to fall and return to where you came in, go through opened door
  3. Get through rollers and open right chest for key and mirror out
  4. Main room, head left-up-left and go through locked door
  5. Sword spin Pokey near wall to easy clear
  6. Chain Chomp room: Cane to flip switch (BLUE), switch again (RED) while standing on the blue tiles to get on top and make invulnerable, push top block to reveal chest, grab key, head north
  7. Pipe room, go southeast, center pot after pipe has arrows
  8. Lava pipe room, take lower pipe
  9. Flip switch (BLUE) and spin or Fire Rod to kill Pokey and get key
  10. Get Big Key from middle chest and head back through north pipe
  11. Flip switch (RED)
  12. Lava pipe room, head back to where you first came in and take upper pipe this time
  13. Kill Pokeys to open doors
  14. Optional: Mirror shield is through south door, bomb wall, dash outside, get shield head north
  15. Head north in roller room
  16. Dark platform room: hookshot invulnerability is useful. Right, immediate down, keep down to get to middle area with floor switch under skull pot, back to platform, right, right, down, left, left
  17. Laser skip room: Have Cane equipped, use it to knock off beetle at bottom. Line up with barrier and dash, timing up press so you don't bonk but are past the laser, get key, dash back north
  18. Key dash through door with far right line up
  19. Flip switch (BLUE), head north, throw pot to flip switch (RED), drop cane block, head past red tile, break block to flip switch (BLUE)
  20. Grab left pot for full magic refill, switch to Ice Rod

Boss

Left side first to kill red head with 2 hits, switch to Fire Rod, then hit third time. Kill second head with 3 hits. Spin slash just as he transforms to hit once, can get second hit if fast enough

Ganon's Tower

Overworld

  1. Head left, its where Tower of Hera was

Dungeon

  1. Head to left stairs
  2. Bonk torch for key and head left
  3. Use hammer to break bottom-right pot for key, clear left and right mole heads and push center block
  4. Hook south, flip switch (BLUE), use cane, go past blue tiles, break block to flip switch (RED)
  5. Head to bottom of room, dropping cane block at switches, go past red tiles, grab key from skull pot, and switch (BLUE)
  6. Stand on center blue tile, hook switch (RED)
  7. Bonk right wall to jump over snake, push solo block to reveal chest, hook across, grab chest
  8. Right portal
  9. Hook bottom wall to pass over portal, take left portal
  10. Bottom left portal
  11. Hug bottom wall and dash right, get super close to portal, turn dash left to bonk and jump past portal
  12. Invisible maze room: grab bottom skull pot, kill beetle, up-left dash to bonk top skull pot to jump across
  13. Bomb bottom-right floor crack and go down
  14. Armos knight refight: silver arrows make quick work
  15. North and grab Big Key from middle, arrows in left
  16. Optional: Red mail, go back to Armos room, left, dash into crack for fairies, up stairs, open big chest
  17. Mirror out
  18. Spike room: flip switch with arrows (or sword beam), walk across middle blue tiles, walk across spikes to left room, push up top block, go down through opened door
  19. Lower switch room, flip north switch (RED), middle skull pot has button, flip switch (BLUE), back south up stairs and go through opened door
  20. Lanmo refight: silver arrows yay!
  21. Invisible path room: Use cane, drop block in center right to kill all wizards
  22. Drop block on left side to kill 3 wizards, dash kill the last one
  23. Moldorm refight: two slashes with gold sword, equip hookshit before fight, hook to chest that appears, push block and hook to skip

Boss

Basically same as earlier, but if you can, reflect clones beams as well to speed it up

Ganon

Slash before text box. First cycle requires 6 slashes. Second cycle requires 6 slashes. Hookshot invulnerability to avoid flames. Third cycle needs 4 slashes. Switch to bow. Slash then hit with arrow, switch to Fire Rod to light torches. Fourth cycle takes 4 arrows

Timer ends after entering door

Fairy Fountains

  • Northwest of Link's House, under pile of rocks.
  • Left of Dark World fortune teller
