An Unofficial Heaps FAQ

An Unofficial Heaps FAQ

I (Yanrishatum) see too many same questions. They irritate me.

Translation

"How dare you come into this chat and not realize that i am the GOD of heaps and that you MUST check out MY documentation1!!! Im veyr abngrey!!!" - translation from someone in chat.

Very accurate, I highly approve.

Enable or Disable the Touchpad while typing via libinput `xinput` (aka. libinput "gaming" mode)
#!/bin/sh
#
# libinput by default will disable the touchpad while a key is pressed.
# to disable this, run `xinput` to list the inputs. find the name of your
# touchpad (mine is 'Microsoft Surface Keyboard Touchpad').
#
# Disable the setting 'Disable While Typing Enabled'
# `xinput --set-prop 'Microsoft Surface Keyboard Touchpad' \
# 'libinput Disable While Typing Enabled' 0`

Postfix: sender-dependent SASL authentication — relay to multiple SMTP hosts, or relay to the same host but authenticate as different users (e.g., two Gmail accounts)

This is a sequel to "Postfix: relay to authenticated SMTP".

I would like to send mail from two different Gmail accounts using Postfix. Here is the relevant section in the Postfix documentation: Configuring Sender-Dependent SASL authentication.

As a concrete example, here's how to set up two Gmail accounts (only relevant sections of the config files are listed below):

/etc/postfix/main.cf:
    # sender-dependent sasl authentication
    smtp_sender_dependent_authentication = yes

sender_dependent_relayhost_maps = hash:/etc/postfix/sender_relay

Falsehoods Programmers Believe About Gender
  1. There are two and only two genders.
  2. Okay, then there are two and only two biological genders.
  3. Gender is determined solely by biology.
  4. Okay, it’s mostly determined by biology, right?
  5. Please tell me it’s determined by DNA.
  6. Gender can be reliably determined through visual means. After all, no man would ever wear a burka.
  7. Once gender is set, it never changes.
  8. Even if the gender can change, it will only change from the one value to the other value.
  9. Only one gender can be “active” at the same time.
  10. We’re tracking gender now, so we’ve always tracked it.

Checkout github pull requests locally

Locate the section for your github remote in the .git/config file. It looks like this:

[remote "origin"]
	fetch = +refs/heads/*:refs/remotes/origin/*
	url = git@github.com:joyent/node.git

Now add the line fetch = +refs/pull/*/head:refs/remotes/origin/pr/* to this section. Obviously, change the github url to match your project's URL. It ends up looking like this:
