Dear TD

As my TD I am writing to request that you to support the motion by the Social Democrats to expel the Israeli ambassador on my behalf.

The past 4 weeks have seen the Israeli assault kill more civilians (over 11,100) than in the entire war in Ukraine which started 1 year, 8 months and 20 days ago (627 days).

In their brutal and unprecedented attacks on the civilian population of Gaza the Israelis seek to cast themselves as the victims which they are not https://www.aljazeera.com/gallery/2023/11/9/the-war-on-gaza-a-masterclass-in-disinformation.

The time to act to end the genocide by Israel is now before it escalates into a broader regional conflict https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2023/10/28/israels-war-on-gaza-in-ten-explainers.

Ireland didn't stand idly by in Ukraine or when apartheid reigned in South Africa and this time is no different https://www.historyireland.com/an-boks-amach-the-irish-anti-apartheid-movement/.

Unilateral action by Ireland is essential as time is of the essence with 10 children being killed per hour under a hail of Israeli bombs, missiles tank and artillery fire.

The expulsion of the ambassador will serve as a signal to call an immediate ceasefire to allow humanitarian aid, followed by a comprehensive prisoner exchange and peace talks aimed at achieving statehood for the Palestinians which is essential for the long term security of the Israelis too, whether they realise it or not.

As my TD my family and I expect you to vote in line with our wishes and those of the majority of Irish people as we face into a new election cycle.

My final thoughts are those of Prof Norman Finkelstein, son of 2 holocaust survivors whose entire families perished in Auschwitz and Majdanek concentration camps:
