I am writing you today to express my interest in the Front-End Engineer II position that was posted on LinkedIn. I am interested in working at Amazon because I really respect how the technology you are building enables all the moving parts of the company work together so seamlessly, and when I saw that many of my strengths lined up with the job description, I felt that this was a perfect match. I want to combine my experience in both customer-facing roles and programming to provide a next-level experience for the user.

I received my education in programming from Turing School of Software & Design, in downtown Denver. The curriculum went beyond the relevant programming languages and also covered working successfully in teams, adapting good workflow practices, and of course, learning how to teach yourself new things. I have always considered myself to work great in teams, and my experience at Turing has only strengthened that skill.

To give you an example of one of my more recent independent projects, I used React + Redux, as well as React Testing Library to fetch COVID-19 Colorado County data from various API’s and displayed some of the most relevant information for each county in Colorado. While there is still more I want to add to this project, I placed an emphasis on creating a clean flow of data between React components, thorough testing, and designing a fluid UX. Technically speaking, things like test driven development (TDD), object-oriented programing (OOP), agile workflow practices, and frameworks like React are all essentials in my toolkit. I strive for my code to be as cleanly written as possible - catered towards maximum efficiency and readability. I get a sense of satisfaction from refactoring code to make it more efficient or readable. That is part of what drives me to be the developer I am, and I hope to be able to bring that drive for innovation to Amazon.
