I'd love to start one, but I fear 'market saturation' of the topic (technology).

I don't keep up with the ones I know of, and I'm wondering how many others are the same way. Do people really want MORE podcasts?

@CalvinAllen - people don't necessarily want "yet another podcast"... podcasting for the sake of podcasting probably won't get much traction, honestly.

what people want is unique insight and experience, stories that will entertain and/or enrich their own lives. the great news is that you are the only person in the world with your experiences. others may have similar experiences and ideas, but not yours and not your perspective on those experiences.

podcasting is a very personal medium, creating a more meaningful connection with your audience than written words will do. use that personal connection to give people what they want: your stories, your experience and your knowledge.

additionally, covering a broad topic like "technology" is going to make it hard to get to the point of being personal. there's simply too much to cover. but if you find a more specific niche - something that you are passionate about, that you can talk about to no end, that keeps you up at night or causes you to fly in to rages and fits when people don't understand... that one thing can be profoundly entertaining and enlightening when you combine it with your own personal experiences and share your stories of success and failure.

the audience that http://entreprogrammers.com is building is that kind of niche - it's stories about how 3 developers are trying to make it as entrepreneurs... it's our success and our failures, our questions and our answers - and it continues to grow as people get to know us, come to understand our perspectives and begin to celebrate and feel the sorrow with us.
