Why it was a bad idea: too much work, I didn't have time to invest, but in 2020 recommendations are now more powerful than ever. Streaming industry is also very innovative and competitive, particularly Spotify who has become the leader between 2015 and 2020.

Measure the churn rate of technological stacks based on meetup, github, google trends data.

Why it is still a good idea: Octoverse and Stackoverflow surveys now use big data to provide insights, but it is still not clear enough for both companies and engineers what to invest time in.

When I was 15, I wrote a small website to find friends who to write emails to. The website got about 1000 users, but it got hacked and I stopped the project.

The stack was PHP, HTML and JS. Deployment was done using FTP.

Why it failed: One day I updated the website from a friend's house, I suspect there was a trojan keylogger installed and someone exploited the insecure nature of FTP vs. SFTP.

Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook then got a similar idea 10 years later. :-)
