synergy owl poem
screech, called grandpa
the taletall sounds of him walking down the hall
the knock of his of his stubbed leg
the flap of his creaking wing
coming around the wall
into the lounge, giving me a stare
An aged look, longing for youth but arrogant in age.
"Everything does not tick on forever"
"You have many fine centuries to watch here"
"A power lies in us all, to move forward through time in each day"
Gears scratch, a spring rewinding as he stands there
standing and prodding the air
"I know this power", I say.
Watching him think is peaceful,
Reminding me of our countless conversations before on the magic of this world.
Of the magic in me growing stronger,
Tapping into it will bring life into the world. A life unlike ours.
Created artificially, and left to watch and guard our world,
On the passing of an era, a sibling will emerge,
Calling the nearest life to wind them for the first time.
We live so long because of the result of my leaking.
Energy leaks into the ground we walk on.
The air we fly through glints and shudders.
We are constructed but we leave a wake of the natural.
Life, kindness, caring, thoughtful creatures.
They look so differnt,
round to our straight
soft to our hard.
We can wind our kins gears, replace their broken parts.
But we need them to last longer than a few spins of this planet.
Without these lives to watch,
Without our bodies to care,
A different world it would be.
But it would be less without our synergy.
