Warning: /usr/local/etc isn't writable.
This can happen if you "sudo make install" software that isn't managed by
by Homebrew. If a brew tries to write a file to this directory, the
install will fail during the link step.
You should probably `chown` /usr/local/etc
Warning: /usr/local/share isn't writable.
This can happen if you "sudo make install" software that isn't managed by

install will fail during the link step.
You should probably `chown` /usr/local/share
Warning: Some directories in /usr/local/share/man aren't writable.
This can happen if you "sudo make install" software that isn't managed
by Homebrew. If a brew tries to add locale information to one of these
directories, then the install will fail during the link step.
You should probably `chown` them:
/usr/local/share/man
/usr/local/share/man/man1
/usr/local/share/man/man5
/usr/local/share/man/man8
Warning: The /usr/local directory is not writable.
Even if this directory was writable when you installed Homebrew, other
software may change permissions on this directory. Some versions of the
"InstantOn" component of Airfoil are known to do this.
You should probably change the ownership and permissions of /usr/local
back to your user account.
Warning: "config" scripts exist outside your system or Homebrew directories.
`./configure` scripts often look for *-config scripts to determine if
software packages are installed, and what additional flags to use when
compiling and linking.
Having additional scripts in your path can confuse software installed via
Homebrew if the config script overrides a system or Homebrew provided
script of the same name. We found the following "config" scripts:
/opt/local/bin/apr-1-config
/opt/local/bin/apu-1-config
/opt/local/bin/curl-config
/opt/local/bin/freetype-config
/opt/local/bin/icu-config

Warning: An outdated version of Git was detected in your PATH.
Git 1.7.10 or newer is required to perform checkouts over HTTPS from GitHub.
Please upgrade: brew upgrade git
Warning: libiconv files detected at a system prefix other than /usr
Homebrew doesn't provide a libiconv formula, and expects to link against
the system version in /usr. libiconv in other prefixes can cause
compile or link failure, especially if compiled with improper
architectures. OS X itself never installs anything to /usr/local so
it was either installed by a user or some other third party software.
tl;dr: delete these files:
/usr/local/lib/libiconv.dylib
/usr/local/include/iconv.h
Warning: Python is installed at /Library/Frameworks/Python.framework
Homebrew only supports building against the System-provided Python or a
brewed Python. In particular, Pythons installed to /Library can interfere
with other software installs.
Warning: /Library/Frameworks/Mono.framework detected
This can be picked up by CMake's build system and likely cause the build to
fail. You may need to move this file out of the way to compile CMake.
Warning: You have MacPorts or Fink installed:
/opt/local/bin/port | |
This can cause trouble. You don't have to uninstall them, but you may want to
temporarily move them out of the way, e.g.
sudo mv /opt/local ~/macports
Warning: Unbrewed dylibs were found in /usr/local/lib.
If you didn't put them there on purpose they could cause problems when
building Homebrew formulae, and may need to be deleted.
Unexpected dylibs: | |
/usr/local/lib/libcharset.1.dylib
/usr/local/lib/libgearman.4.dylib
/usr/local/lib/libiconv.2.dylib
/usr/local/lib/libruby.1.8.7.dylib
/usr/local/lib/libusb-0.1.4.4.4.dylib
/usr/local/lib/libusbpp-0.1.4.4.4.dylib
Warning: Unbrewed .la files were found in /usr/local/lib.
If you didn't put them there on purpose they could cause problems when
building Homebrew formulae, and may need to be deleted.
Unexpected .la files: | |
/usr/local/lib/libcharset.la
/usr/local/lib/libgearman.la
/usr/local/lib/libiconv.la
Warning: Unbrewed .pc files were found in /usr/local/lib/pkgconfig.
If you didn't put them there on purpose they could cause problems when
building Homebrew formulae, and may need to be deleted.
Unexpected .pc files: | |
/usr/local/lib/pkgconfig/fuse.pc
/usr/local/lib/pkgconfig/gearmand.pc
Warning: Unbrewed static libraries were found in /usr/local/lib.
If you didn't put them there on purpose they could cause problems when
building Homebrew formulae, and may need to be deleted.
Unexpected static libraries:
/usr/local/lib/libcharset.a
/usr/local/lib/libruby-static.a
Warning: You have unlinked kegs in your Cellar
Leaving kegs unlinked can lead to build-trouble and cause brews that depend on
those kegs to fail to run properly once built. Run `brew link` on these:
gist | |
libevent | |
makedepend | |
memcached | |
mysql | |
Warning: You have uncommitted modifications to Homebrew
If this a surprise to you, then you should stash these modifications.
Stashing returns Homebrew to a pristine state but can be undone
should you later need to do so for some reason.
cd /usr/local/Library && git stash && git clean -d -f
Warning: Some installed formula are missing dependencies.
You should `brew install` the missing dependencies:
brew install mhash openssl
Run `brew missing` for more details.
Warning: /usr/bin occurs before /usr/local/bin
This means that system-provided programs will be used instead of those
provided by Homebrew. The following tools exist at both paths:
2to3 | |

Consider setting your PATH so that /usr/local/bin
occurs before /usr/bin. Here is a one-liner:
echo export PATH='/usr/local/bin:$PATH' >> ~/.bash_profile
Warning: Homebrew's sbin was not found in your PATH but you have installed
formulae that put executables in /usr/local/sbin.
Consider setting the PATH for example like so
echo export PATH='/usr/local/sbin:$PATH' >> ~/.bash_profile
Warning: You have a non-Homebrew 'pkg-config' in your PATH:
/opt/local/bin/pkg-config
`./configure` may have problems finding brew-installed packages using
this other pkg-config.
Warning: No developer tools installed.
You should install the Command Line Tools.
Run `xcode-select --install` to install them.
fatal: ambiguous argument 'HEAD': unknown revision or path not in the working tree.
Use '--' to separate paths from revisions
Warning: Your Homebrew is outdated.
You haven't updated for at least 24 hours, this is a long time in brewland!
To update Homebrew, run `brew update`. |
