    Summary

The aim of this document is to explore a potential project put forth by the Xanadu team to integrate error mitigation with PennyLaneAI/catalyst.
In particular understand what the work is that they would like us to do, and estimate the resources need.
Background

Xanadu approached UF in July 2023 to discuss a new package that they are working on called catalyst.
The tagline for this project is "A JIT compiler for hybrid quantum programs in PennyLane".
On a high level this is a compiler tool that allows for hybrid (classical/quantum) programs to be lowered to custom intermediate representation (IR), optimized via compilation passes, and further lowered to QIR.
