Drop Tables

In NBX, there will not be 1 global drop table for PvP drops. The plan is to have many smaller drop tables with more specific items in that drop table. Players will start out with the standard drop tables but will slowly unlock other drop tables by completing tasks. Players will be able to choose which drop tables will be picked from by toggling their status Enabled or Disabled. There will be a few permanently enabled drop tables to prevent abuse by toggling all drop tables they don't want, but never fear, the permanently enabled table drops will be the essentials (food, runes, arrows, currencies) so that you aren't getting garbage you'll never use every single drop (though there will be some semi-useless items like low tier food, low tier potions, etc). These semi-useless drops will have a use eventually, be it a convert-to-currency or convert-to-higher-tier options.

Drop Points and Drop Point Allocation

To avoid unwanted changes of certain drop rates when enabling or disabling other tables, players will have an allocation system using "drop points". This system is used to allow players to control the RNG that dictates the drops they get. This will prevent one of the big sources of frustration and annoyance within players that keep getting drops they don't want. This system will allow them to be more likely get what they do want depending on how they allocate their points. This also gives players something to work towards, unlocking their most wanted drop table and getting the items they want. This system allows for an evenly spread and self-balancing item economy. If an item has high demand but low supply, more players will swap their table toggles and drop points to raise supply, but consequentially will lower the supply for other items, theoretically raising their demand.

  • A player will have 625 drop points at account genesis. This will be the same for every account.
  • The player will be given the option to assign their drop points upon account creation to customize their initial tables to their liking.
  • Each toggleable table will have an (assigned_points/total_points+250) chance to get picked when the drop table is picked. Consequently, each item will have (item_chance * table_chance) to be picked.
  • Players will be able to re-allocate their drop points whenever they want for a price.
  • Re-allocation cost will be high enough to prevent the frequent changing of drop tables. It should be something you think about.
  • The player MUST press the accept button on the allocation interface to apply allocation changes.
  • Each non-permanent drop table has a maximum amount of drop points allowed to be put in to it, excluding the permanently enabled drop tables. This is to prevent the abuse of this toggle-allocate system. Example: Re-allocating all your drop points in to an unlockable table making that table not as rare of a pick as it is intended to be.
  • Any un-allocated points will be spread across all the enabled default unlocked tables, including Ammo and Supplies This is to prevent abuse of NOT using your points. Example: Filling 1 table to max drop points but putting points in nothing else so you always get 1 table as a drop.
  • Permanently enabled drop tables have a base 125 points.
  • There will be activities the player can participate in to get extra drop points. For every 2 extra drop points you receive, the maximum drop points for every toggleable drop table goes up by 1.
  • Upon re-allocation of drop points, any unused points will be evenly spread across the permanently enabled drop tables. This is to prevent abuse of NOT using your points. Example: Filling a table to max drop points and putting points in nothing else.
  • Special interactions with the PvP drop table, such as PvP Slayer Reward boxes, will have a 100% chance to roll toggleable tables and possibly different rates for those tables.
  • Drop rate increase will NOT affect how often a table gets picked, but it will affect the item draw on that pick.
