Pitching In An Elevator

Nothing To Hide is an anti-stealth game, where you're forced to help in your own surveillance. You can play the HTML5 demo right now! The game is dedicated to the public domain, with all their art and code on Github. ("Nothing To Hide has nothing to hide") They're currently running a crowdfunding campaign to fully build this open source game. Ten percent of the funds raised will go to digital rights groups like the EFF, Demand Progress, and Mozilla.

Possibly Interesting Talking Points

  • The game is a satire of our own self-surveillance, as expressed in both in the puzzle mechanic & story.
  • The puzzle design is curious and challenging, but fair. Think Braid or the original Portal.
  • The entire game's code and art is open source, under the Creative Commons Zero public domain dedication.
  • The game is built in HTML5. Open web standards!
  • 10% of the campaign goes to digital rights groups. (EFF, Demand Progress, Mozilla, Creative Commons, Press Freedom Foundation)
  • The crowdfunding mechanism in unique: "Your pledge is claimed in parts over time. You only give your full pledge when I finish the full project."
  • The crowdfunding site accepts bitcoin.

Previous Press

When the first public prototype of Nothing To Hide came out, it was featured on IndieGames.com and JayIsGames. I've also done a Creative Commons Zero + crowdfunding thing before. It was called The Open Game Art Bundle. Here's press writeups from OpenSource.com and Creative Commons.
