<p>We were hoping to skip the Spanish bank account completely and almost made it through leasing, utilities, school fees and climbing gym memberships. Sadly setting up internet was our downfall as there was apparently no way to bill monthly service (we had to set up our own as it didn’t come with our lease) for any of the 5 ISPs except by doing direct bank withdrawl. </p> | |
<p>We ended up opening a Ibercaja bank account which couldn’t happen until we had our actual ID cards and took several trips to the bank due to paperwork the US government requires to ensure you’re not laundering money. The upside was meeting our friendly local banker Nieves who is now a good friend. </p> | |
