For Sale: Filco Majestouch 2 tenkeyless Keyboard.

Here is the Filco Majestouch 2 Tenkeyless Keyboard product listing. Tech specs:

  • Brown cherry MX key switches (tactile feel without audible 'click')
  • compact 88 key layout (with no number pad)
  • works both with USB and PS/2 ports
  • supports true N-Key rollover (NKRO)

Brand new, the keyboard sells for £114 (including VAT). Get in touch with me by email if you want to make an offer.

Condition: used by one careful owner

I bought the keyboard new in September 2013. It was my first mechanical keyboard and I used it constantly for about 6 months. Then in March 2014, I bought and assembled an ErgoDox keyboard. Since then, the ErgoDox has become my preferred keyboard, so I'm looking to sell my Filco Majestouch.

The keyboard comes with its box and is in very good condition. I removed each of the key caps to clean them individually. (A picture below shows the keyboard with key caps removed, revealing the brown switches.) The keyboard is built to last and will go on working for many years to come.

Tactile mechanical switches are great for typing

This model is fitted with Cherry MX Brown switches. They feel great to type on (I also opted to use these switches on my ErgoDox). If you're new to the world of mechanical key switches, then Cherry Browns are a good starting point. Gamers tend to prefer "linear switches". Some touch typists prefer "clicky switches" (Cherry Blues), but they are the noisiest switches and can be unpopular among your co-workers. The "tactile" brown switches are a compromise: you get to feel when you press the key past its actuation point, without getting the click noise.

NKRO and Plover compatible

I chose to buy the Filco Majestouch because I was curious to experiment with Plover, an open source stenography program. To use Plover, you need a keyboard that supports NKRO. The Filco Majestouch is one of a handful of keyboards that can provide full NKRO over USB. So if you're interested in experimenting with Plover, this keyboard could be your way in.
