Avengers: Infinity War insta-review
StarLord was unlikeable; what little they gave him to do was neither rogueish nor heroic.
I understand why Dr. Strange would not like Tony Stark even before he actually met him, but I would have liked to see a backstory about it. (In the comics, there would be a line with an asterisk pointing to the issue in another book)
Giving Loki an honorable death was good, except that the odds are he'll end up being resurrected and just turn bad again. I mean, that's how comics work. But in the frame of the film alone, it was good.
Making Thor a noble semi-idiot - a kind of extremely good-hearted frat bro - is one of the smartest decision the MCU made.
Semi-destroying Wakanda felt like a betrayal after the genius of Black Panther.

So I was working at this data entry place. they scanned documents for legal cases and people "coded" them (so it would appear on the screen, and they'd enter something "memo from fred to barney on such-and-such a date", et). I had risen from temp to shift supervisor.
One of the people I was friendly with there was a guy named Aden. He was from Somalia. Originally a banker, he fled in the late 80's when the Somali Civil War was getting going; he said a bunch of warlords put a price on his head, so he left.
One day Aden requests a few extra days off, because a friend of his from Somalia and her husband was coming to visit. OK, whatever, dude. Have fun.
Some time later he comes into work with a sheaf of pictures. (In the old days, see, you'd get photos developed on this special paper.) He asks if I'd like to see them; they were taken at his home when his friend came to visit.
Sure, dude. So I grab the pics and start flipping through them. The first few are his kids sitting around the living room.

it's been 15 years - i switched to the Apple ecosystem w/ the OS X public beta! I had a graphite iMac and a bondi blue powermac tower thing running os9 that i put X on ASAP.

the problems listed at https://gist.github.com/neurobashing/e52a73e7f180902731cb with my apple tv - it's a constant headache

Yosemite has been problematic for me. on 2 out of 3 machines i use regularly, it's basically god-awful. it's not been a good experience for me.

nearly everythign I use every day for work is already x-platform.

the crazy "banned/no j/k you're back" thing of the app store.

"it's about ethics in games journalism"
but at /r/kotakuinaction (as of 12/22 at about 1405)
the #1 post is about zoe quinn, #5 is "gather dirt on anti-gg to report to patreon", several items in top 10 are about patreon implementing new community guidelines.
where is the journalism. where is anyone talking about journalism.

since moving to the newer Apple TV hardware and recent versions of Apple TV OS (or whatever they call it):

  1. For any given subscription X, it rarely (if ever) works that I can select the newest episode from the main menu (eg, one of the first 2 items) in the TV group). Instead, you have to drill through either the store menu and attempt to "re-buy" the episode, before it can be watched. (thankfully I am never charged twice)
  2. the Apple TV remote app (iphone, iPad) is effectively useless. it hasn't worked in perhaps a year or more.
  3. Home sharing requires constant re-authorization. and without the remote, entering my 46-character iTunes password is tedious on the best of days.
  4. netflix performance has steadily decreased over the past year or so (although that's partially Verzion's fault)
  5. The Youtube app is a joke. (that may be Google's fault, though)
  6. HBO Go and other things are now available on Amazon Fire
  7. For that matter, evereything I'd pay for on Apple TV is now available on Amazon Instant Vi
