How to smoke the Dutch way
- Show your face. Take off your hoodies, caps, and hats.
- Don't be a big shot. If you are not a frequent visitor to a coffee shop, let the staff know that you are a novice. If they are nice, they will match their advice to your needs.
- No tobacco. Leave your tobacco and cigarettes in your pockets. In the Netherlands, smoking tobacco inside a coffee shop is strictly prohibited, but nobody will care if you do it discreetly.
- Start with the cheap Sativa weed. Hash (hashish) and iceolator are more potent and suited for experienced consumers.
- Smoke slowly. Think twice before you inhale again. Once you start feeling the effects, focus on balancing your consciousness like a spinning ball on your fingertips.
- Weed is a business. Just like any cafe in the main station, coffee shops in Amsterdam are designed to make money due to high traffic. Expect to pay at least 10 euros for a cup of coffee.
- Enjoy your experience. Start experiencing your journey and don't hesitate to slow down and stop searching for anything. The moment is now.
- Respect the culture and other visitors. The Netherlands has a liberal drug policy, but that doesn't mean anything goes. Respect the culture and laws of the country, and respect other visitors in the coffee shop.
- No photography or filming. Taking photos or filming inside a coffee shop is prohibited to protect the privacy of other visitors.
- Keep the coffee shop clean. Dispose of your waste in the designated containers and keep the coffee shop clean and tidy.
- Do not drive under the influence. Never drive under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Instead, use public transportation or a taxi.
- Be respectful. Be respectful to the staff and other visitors of the coffee shop. Avoid speaking too loudly and respect the rules of the coffee shop.
