M4 Reflection

Fork this gist and answer these questions to reflect on your learning experiences.

  • What brought you to Turing?

I wanted to change into a career that would allow me to have different challenges constantly, where I could problem solve and build solutions for others in an efficient way. I chose Turing because in my experience, it's not just about how good you are, it's also about how well you work with others and I was really happy to see that Turing is focused on not just teaching you to code, but to be part of a community and to collaborate with others (which I believe it's the most important factor in any job).

  • Where do you see yourself after Turing?

I see myself working with a great group of people, learning new things, feeling confident about my capabilities and building a career in a company where I enjoy working and where the values and mission motivate me to do a better job every day.

  • From concepts taught in class or your personal learning, what technical concepts do you enjoy exploring most?

I enjoy TDD and BDD, building/consuming APIs, working with databases and building analytics based on the information (through SQL). I really enjoy styling through SASS, I think you have more control and it's more clean.

I want to practice more how to improve performance through AJAX, background workers and caching. They seem straight forward but I didn't have a chance to practice them as much as I would have liked.

  • What technical concepts do you enjoy exploring least?

I prefer SQL over ActiveRecord, and I don't like Bootstrap or Materialize.

  • What technical challenges are the most fun for you to solve?

I really enjoy styling and data analysis, specially data from an API.
