As a preliminary, set an intention first! Don't change it so long as you're interested in the outcome you want.
- You cannot control the thoughts that come into your head regarding how to get to your goal. This includes thoughts of self-doubt, self-criticism, good ideas, bad ideas, ideas like "I should ask someone for help", thoughts like "I don't know...", and voices telling you "you'll never...", or even "I've got this...".
- You can control the thoughts you chose to coalesce into secondary thoughts, speech, or actions.
- Pick the next thought, the next piece of speech, or the next volitional act that seems most aligned with your desired outcome.
- Act on it.
- Repeat.
