v. 3.0.0
- created, ignoring all previous incarnations of the rules, from draft of an email
v 3.0.1
- Clarifications
v 3.1.0
- Simplifying rules, reducing the "goat" possibility and penalty for missing a bonus putt.
-
While in possession still, the Moneyball is played from each tee box, until the hole is finished or the ball is lost during course of play. If a Moneyball is lost during a hole, it is replaced with a regular ball, and all special Moneyball rules are forfeited for that hole.
-
The player in possession of the Moneyball is rotated for each hole
-
(new) A sporting attempt should be made by the player holding the Moneyball. It is considered against the spirit of the Moneyball to, for example, tap the Moneyball on a drive instead of attempting a real swing.
-
During the first putting round, given the Moneyball is still in play for the hole, the player with the Moneyball earns a -1 bonus for his team if he sinks his putt. This is known as the Bonus Putt.
- If a non-moneyballer sinks the putt, the Bonus Putt can still be attempted without penalty for a chance to earn the -1 bonus.
-
During the first putting round, the moneyball player, if the ball is still in his possession, may take a second attempt after the rest of the players, including himself during his "bonus putt", have missed the putt. This is known as The Puttigan, or, if he makes it "The Save".
- If he makes it, there is no additional reward other than saving his team another stroke.
- If he misses it, the players must putt from the leave of the puttigan
