--- # Scene 1.0 - Shepherds Sleeping
[SHEPHERDS ENTER]
Shepherds are the most discriminated people in society during those times. Half of the shepherds are sleeping and the other half are sleeping. and vice versa. This scene showcases the poor and isolated life of Shepherds.
--- # Scene 1.1 - Angels appear to the shepherds
[ANGELS ENTER]
Opening scene: shepherds hear a song sung by the angels from far away and it gets closer and closer. As the angels get close to the shepherds, they see that the angels are singing and dancing joyfully. They sing praises that a saviour is born to the shepherds. Shepherds wake up. Most of them are frightened, shocked and clinging to each other for safety.
Angel_1: "wake up everyone... wake up ... Do not be afraid! have you heard the good news?" Angel_2: "a Saviour is born! Jesus Christ, the descendant of David, the one who will redeem everone from their sins is alive!"
As the angels are speaking, all the shepherds are scared and still clinging to each other because they haven't seen such heavenly beings before. They are surprised that they (such low-caste people in society) are witnessing an unsual sighting.
Angels appear closer to the shepherds and they panic.
Angels give the shepherds a sign to follow (a google maps link). Note: in the bible, the sign is actually to find a stable with Mary and a baby residing in Bethlehem.
--- # Scene 1.2 - Arguments between Shepherds
[ANGELS EXIT]
(Shep1 couldn't understand what he just witnessed and addresses everone:) Shep1: "What have we just witnessed? I don't how to describe it... What were they saying?"
Shep2: "I have no idea. Didn't understand a word."
(Shep3 is the most curious off the group and the one who stays with Jesus) Shep3: "Why did they come to us? We are just shepherds... They asked us to follow this path. Is someone in danger? Do they need our help?"
Shep5: "Whatever just happened, I really couldn't care less! I am going back to sleep"
(Shep4 is the most elderly and the leader of the shepherds) Shep4: "Everyone quiet down! This is not something we should ignore. This is definitely important because an Angel of the Lord has brought us good news to visit a place to see a saviour of the world. Let us use Google Maps Navigation to get there"
(Shep2 is the agitated one in the group and always argues.) Shep2: "Are you crazy? Do you know how long the journey will take? Who will take care of our sheep?"
(10 second pause and everyone looking at each other)
Shep2: "There is no way I am coming..."
Shep4: "Alright you are the only one who will stay here and take care of the flock" "Everyone else will come with me, I've got full charge on my phone and have Google Maps installed. Let's go to Bethlehem to find God's only Son!" Shepherd leader guides the rest of the shepherds into a pathway
--- # Scene 2.0 - Jesus is born.
[SHEPHERDS EXIT] - following the leader (Shep4) [MARY, JESUS AND JOSEPH ENTER]
Mary addresses Jesus as "Yeshua" and cuddling with him. Joseph watches over. Mary: "Yeshua, do you need to sleep" Joseph: "He must be very cold, we need to cover him." Joseph covers Mary from Mary's shawl Joseph: "Look at him, he looks so cute and chubby. Oh he's falling asleep now, Look!"
Mary taking care of baby and singing lullabies as Jesus falls asleep
--- # Scene 2.1 - Shepherds appear before Jesus
[SHEPHERDS ENTER]
Shepherds bowing down and praising Jesus. Jesus calling each shepherd by name. Baby addressing shepherds. Shepherds acting surprised because baby is calling them by name
Shepherds kissing and hugging the baby. all the attention is focused on Jesus. Shepherds jumping and acting joyfully.
Argumnet between shepherds because most of them have to go take care of the sheep.
--- # Scene 3.0 - Herodes Palace
[SHEPHERDS EXIT] [MARY, JESUS AND JOSEPH EXIT]
[KING HEORD AND COUNCIL ENTER] [WISE MEN ENTER]
3 Wise men walking towards Herodes presence.
Guard interrupts and stops them.
They are let through. Introduction of the three kings.
Wise men: "Have you heard of a new king who is going to rule and save Jerusalem. King panics and gets up from his palace.
King: "a king???? what king? tell me more"
King summons ministers and requests for more information regarding this issue of a new king. ministers searches for information on their technology. Herod uses his kingship power and commands for more information. Minister showing satelitte view of where Mary, Joseph and Jesus are.
Minister uses navigation app 'Google Maps' to go to retrieve them. The same minister gets more information and confirms that Jesus is defuinitely the king because of 'stars' King commands 3 spies to go and investigate. "Do not forget to tell me that you located him. Because I want to go ans worship Jesus too"
--- # Scene 4 - Bethlehem Scene
[MARY, JESUS AND JOSEPH ENTER] [LONE SHEPHERD ENTER] [WISE MEN ENTER]
The shepherd pampering Jesus. King's men enters. Shepherd stops them. Shep to Kings Men: "Where are you coming from?" "Ypu are not following the regulations and provides sanitisers"
Corona concept here. "Mother mary I am not letting them through because they are not following regulations" Shepherd acts as a admin and asks to maintain a metre distance when viewing Jesus.
