This script has a confusing outcome if the ~/Library/LaunchAgents directory does not exist. It will create ~/Library/LaunchAgents as a symbolic link to the plist file. So maybe consider adding a line before line 3 like this:

mkdir -p ~/Library/LaunchAgents # Ensure the LaunchAgents directory exists

I came across this gist through Google. So, today after running brew install redis I saw the message:

To have launchd start redis now and restart at login:
  brew services start redis
Or, if you don't want/need a background service you can just run:
  redis-server /usr/local/etc/redis.conf

Instead of following this gist's instructions, I did that. I'm thinking brew services is the more modern way to do this...?
