Attorney Online Discord Rules

New general rules:

  • Apply common sense, if you have any.
  • Keep trolling contained. This means when there is a serious conversation going on, you keep it serious.
  • Criticism must be constructive, except in dire cases of irony.
  • No spamming, except in #spam.
  • No excess memery or dead, unfunny memes except in #memes.
  • No NSFW content in any channel, except for role-playing in #nsfw-erp.
  • No stalking, harassment, or excess profanity.

Role-playing:

  • To be contained in #rp1 and #rp2.
  • Put extended OOC (out-of-character) chat in #rp[1/2]-ooc.
  • RP material that is not safe for work must remain in #nsfw-erp.
    • Links to ERP content are to be kept away from general channels. Please exchange these privately.

Tech support:

  • Read the stickies first!
  • Be clear when you ask for help.
  • Stick around for a while after you ask your question.
  • There's no need to ask to ask. ("I need help," "Can I ask a question?")

Voice channels:

  • Music is allowed, unless someone objects to it.
  • General rules for text channels also apply.

Development:

Because we are so short-handed, it takes a lot of time for us to develop features and make releases. As we are such knowledgeable and talented people, we often have numerous obligations from other people on the Internet and real life, so we cannot stay on all day. No matter how little action we take on a given day, we listen carefully to your feedback and greatly appreciate your desires to improve AO.

Crime and punishment:

  • If you are dumb enough to break any of these rules, you will be warned (privately or publicly).
  • If you are dumb enough to persist, you get kicked.
    • If a moderator or admin doesn't invite you back, you'll have to phone a friend to get you back into the server.
  • If you are dumb enough to keep doing dumb things over and over, you get banned.
    • Your ban reason will contain a ban length, usually from 1 day to 1 month.
    • There is no automatic unban, but one of us will usually place a special little reminder on our calendars to unban you.
    • Bans are never permanent because we are good people.
      • Bans do not extend to the AO game itself, also because we are good people.
    • No whining if you get banned, even if we can't control what you do outside of the server.
      • Keep arguments about your disciplinary history as a private discussion between yourself and the moderators/admins.
      • If you whine, it will take more time for us to resolve the conflict.

Roles:

  • Administrators: These members hold a stake in a key part of AO, whether it be the domain, head development of the client, the master/official servers, or a critical leadership position.
  • Really special guy: Reserved for a really special guy.
  • Developers: They work on code for the website, server, or client. Developers of custom clients may also be considered, depending on the contribution involved.
  • Moderators: They enforce the rules and maintain order. They also help issue roles and organize official events.
  • Works IT: Ping for tech support.
  • Server owner: They host servers, with their own little communities.
  • Contributor: They have created and published assets for use in AO.
  • Active: Primarily for bookkeeping. If you chat often, you get the Active role.
  • ROBOT ARMY: Reserved for bots.
  • Faggot: Excuse us for the offensive name... we don't really talk about it. Required to join #nsfw-erp.
  • Shitposting Award: Reserved for those individuals who go above and beyond the art of trolling.
