Please describe the current vision you have for your career. What are the values that will drive your job search? What are your goals for your job search? What kind of role do you see yourself pursuing in your job search?

Initially I would like to start at a company with a decent value system, a tech stack I am interested in, and a notable mentorship program for new devs. I would like to work at a company that has a culture of inclusion that they are always working to improve. I imagine I will start out as a junior front end developer. Eventually I would like to be able to do fullstack, so I would like to work in an environment where there is room to grow. Opportunities to go to confrences and take workshops for continuing education is also valuable to me. My long term stretch goal is to get enough experience and continuing ed to be able to pay it forward. I wouly like to eventually be able to teach formerly incarcerated people in the Philadelphia area programming fundamentals. Ideally I will be able to pursue this while maintaining a steady job as a developer.

What does good work mean to me/ work view

Good work means feeling like I have a purpose and that what I do matters to my little corner of the world. I don't necessarily expect to always feel that way about wage labor, but it would be nice to find a meeting point. I like to feel competent, supported, and valuable. You don't necessarily need to find these things at a job, but it is nice. Work is also important as it creates a feeling of self sufficiency and independence financially.

Based on what you wrote above, please write a refined summary statement for your professional story:

I would like to work for a company with an established culture of inclusion that steadily works on creating more diversity within it's ranks, particularly within mamagement positions. Ideally the first company I work for will offer junior developers a good deal of support, mentorship and opportunity for continuing education.

Please list the top 3-5 industries and companies you'll pursue in your job search as of right now.

tech ed, environmental tech, entertainment, any company not completely devoid of morals that has a good mentorship program for my first job.

Why did you pick the industries/companies that you listed above? How do they relate to the values and goals you have for yourself in your job search?

I want to work on building things I love to use. I love tech ed applications and I think that one of the most valuable resources the internet and software has to offer is the decentralization of education.

How does your LinkedIn currently reflect your goals and industry interests? What changes will you need to make to your LinkedIn to better reflect these?

I need to do some more work flushing out my LinkedIn. Get more endorsements and flush out my work history. I would also like to do more updates as I progress through mod 3 talking about the projects I am working on. Maybe even right a blog post!

How can you capitalize on the outreach and networking plan you made this module to create new contacts in the industry and/or gain information to help you refine your job search strategy?

I will keep reaching out to people through my turing networks working in places I find interesting, asking for remote coffee meetings. I would like to become more involved with LGBT dev communities and make more connections that way as well. I plan on working with some alum to vamp up queerquoders and try and help build a more consistent network of LGBT turing students and alumns.
