The Code of Conduct for the Computer Science Community in The University of Sheffield.

Code of Conduct

For the most part, we're all students trying to learn skills and have a nice time. We want as many people to have a nice time as possible.

TL;DR - Everyone should feel welcome. We don't tolerate abuse, from anyone, to anyone. See something or experience something bad? Let a mentor, leader, committee member or staff member know.

As Computer Scientists we want to learn, socialise and have fun, and it's very hard to do those things in an unwelcoming environment.

Abuse and Harassment are not tolerated, including physical, verbal and written.

Intimidation, racism and any discrimination based on (but not limited to) gender, age, sex or religion is not allowed.

We have the right to decline access to the events we run, and the platforms we use to communicate, for those who breach the Code of Conduct.

It's important to us that you feel catered for and safe in our community. You should never feel unsafe in our community. We will try our best to ensure this is upheld, and if we're unable to help, we'll find someone who can.

We're all responsible for taking steps to reduce or eliminate the causes of distress or feelings of being unsafe. We're all responsible for reporting breaches to the Code of Conduct.

Leaders of the community are not exempt from the Code of Conduct.

Who to contact:

The first port of call is to get in touch with the student committees within the community.

If that doesn't work, get in touch with me.

And finally, if you still need help, contact the Department of Computer Science

We reserve the right to update this Code of conduct at any time.
