*Perl 6 has missed the boat.*
What boat? There is no boat.
*I used to like Perl, but now I use Ruby and Python.*
Glad to hear it.
*The only thing Perl has going for it is the "CPAN":http://search.cpan.org.*
Even if that were true, that in itself is a hell of a recommendation.
*Feature X in Perl 6 is just Y stolen from language Z.*
So? Avoid reinventing wheels.
*All I want to know is when Perl 6 is going to be done.*
Never, just like every other project will never be "done."
*Why call it Rakudo? There should be an official Perl 6.*
For the same reason that there's no official C. We just have GCC
and a myriad other implementations.
*Perl 6 isn't really Perl any more. You should have called it something else.*
Larry Wall says it's Perl. And so it is.
The right person to complain at would be Larry himself,
but I'd rather you didn't because he's busy doing work on Perl 6.
*Perl 6 hasn't done anything to make it more readable than Perl 5.*
*Why write a new VM? You should have used the JVM.*
The JVM didn't support the features of dynamic languages. Parrot does.
