Makes 8 bars
- 1/2c Almond Milk
- 3Tbsp Honey
- 1/3c Nut Butter
- 3TB Crushed Nuts
- 1C Coconut
- 8sc Protein Powder
- maybe some more oil to make the nut butter quite liquid
I use a normal electric bench mixer for this, when you start adding milk at the end I mix thoroughly after about 1/4C. A little liquid goes a long way without protein recipes so try adding a tsp at a time and mixing for about 30sec slowly. You wanna stop just as it's come together and is sticky
- Mix dry ingredients
- Add nut butter and mix
- Add honey an mix
- Mix should still be very dry
- Add milk until until it's combined and fudgey
- Put it in a dish and sprinkle nuts on top
- Put in fridge and cool for about an hour
- Cut into bars and let dry a little
- Maybe try coating them in coconut if they were too sticky
- 1Tbsp of Orange fiber powder makes a firmer bar that tastes a little like a Jaffa
- Remove the honey for a lot of the carbs - it's not necessary - use Splenda if you need sweetness
- Almond milk could be replaced with coconut cream/milk for more fat and more coconut flavour
I can't really fault these. They're high protein, high fat bars so perfect for a snack. Fats are from nuts and coconut so again really good stuff. I make mine without the honey, if I want some sugar PWO then I eat something sugary :)
