*UPDATE*: I've received several offers of help. You can still offer if you
want, but I think I've got enough people to get this done. Thank you :)
Request for Server Assistance
I need a server set up for some pro-bono projects. Server management is not my
area of expertise, so I'd love if someone else could manage this, but if not, I
guess I'll figure it out myself. Yes, this is not paid work. The clients are
NGOs though, if that makes it more palatable.
The goal is to have a mini hosting server - it'll likely be a Slicehost slice -
and I need to treat each site as distinct, allowing the NGOs access if/when
they need it. All sites will be Rails apps, and I'm looking to use Ruby tools
as detailed below - so if that ain't your thing, this probably isn't a good use
of your time. Also, please note the focus on stability - I don't want to have
to worry about the sites or server if at all possible.
Ideal Situation:
* Each site has a separate user account
* Each site runs using Apache and Passenger
* Really easy to add new sites (and users that come along with that) via Deprec
and/or Sprinkle
* I'll use Capistrano to deploy from my developing environment
* SFTP access for each site user
* Aim for no need for me to ever have to SSH in - automate everything! (Well,
the closer the better)
* Monit or Nagios or some other monitoring system
If you can help, shoot me an email: pat at freelancing-gods dot com, or ping me
on twitter (username is pat).
