JEA Response
Here is the official response to JEA with regards to sharing email addresses.
As it turns out, they did not sell it after all.
Dear Mr. Elliott,
We saw your comment on Twitter and wanted to respond after we investigated.
JEA is part of city government and as such is subject to Government in the
Sunshine here in Florida. That means that when someone asks us for information
through the legal Public Records process, we have to give it to them. So, yes
we did by law have to give the Jaguars your information, but we did not sell it
and never would. We don’t like having to do this anymore than you like having
your information given out. As employees, we are all customers too, so our
information is subject to the same laws. I apologize for the aggravation.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
