It took me awhile to figure how to remove the control board to either replace or repair it. Someone else showed me how.
To remove the control board:
- disconnect the clock / buttons panel connector
- disconnect all of the wires from the control board (mark them before disconnecting)
- if the board needs to be replaced there is no choice obviously
- if you prefer to do a simple repair w/out pulling all wires out of all components you can leave them there
- remove the board by aligning the "pins" with openings and then sliding the board to the left
In my case, the issue was that the block with the two incoming power wires
had half of its pins disconnected from the board. I used soldering iron to solder its pins back to the board.
Note. I decided against disconnecting the rest of the wires to avoid any further damage. I was able to position the board the way I needed for a quick soldering job.
