Ratios are used to convert one quantity to another quantity.

  • Remember that 3/3 = 1
  • Given 4 quarters = 1 dollar
  • Also 4 quarters / 4 quarters = 1
  • Also 1 dollar / 1 dollar = 1
  • Also dollar / dollar = 1
  • So 4 quarters / 1 dollar = 1 which means nothing has changed just the labeling.
