- BLACK, RED are hot wires, carrying power from the service panel to the electrical device.
- WHITE wires are neutral, meaning they carry power back to the service panel.
- GREEN (or bare copper) wires are ground wires.
Ceiling Fan: Connect the tip of the ceiling COPPER wire with the tip of the GREEN ground wires (one from the fan, and another one from the fan base).
Connect all WHITE neutral wires (ceiling, receiver and fan).
Connect the receiver BLACK to the ceiling BLACK. Do not connect the RED to anything, just put a cap on it.
If you are using a receiver:
• Connect the receiver DARK BLUE to the fan BLUE.
• Connect the receiver YELLOW to the fan BLACK.
If not using a receiver, then:
• The fan will have a BLACK for the motor and a BLUE for the light.
• If you are using a single switch:
o Connect the ceiling BLACK to the fan BLACK and to the fan BLUE.
• If you are using two switches:
o Connect the ceiling BLACK to the fan BLACK and the ceiling RED to the fan BLUE.
Black (or RED) wires are hot (carry the power) - connect to brass (gold) screws
White wires are neutral - connect to silver (white) screws
Bare copper wires with no insulation are ground - connect to green screws.
