You can typically find the location ID of your keyboard with this command

hidutil list | grep -i keyboard | awk '{print $3}' | sort -u | grep -v 0x0

I've compiled a list of general-purpose1 GUI text editors/IDEs for macOS. I've spent some amount of time playing around with each of these2 to get an idea for what they offer. If you have an other ideas/suggestions, please open a PR and suggest them.

  • BBEdit
    • Offers a subset of features for free, with a 14-day trial for the full version
    • $50 for the latest major release from Barebones.com, or as a subscription from the App Store
      • Access to the major version without paying extra to upgrade
  • $40 a year, or $4 a month

How to Find ANY Icon

  1. Open the application such that you see the icon on your screen.
  2. Open Activity Monitor
  3. Double click the name of the application (i.e. Finder or System Preferences)
  4. Select "Open Files and Ports"
  5. Copy the output to a file and then grep for .icns

Similarly you could run this command, but it may take several minutes to complete:
