Describe one of your strengths What is something you have learned to do well (list a skill)?

  • A skill I am proud of is my ability to do art and use it to express myself.

What is something you know about (list some knowledge/expertise you have)?

  • I was self-taught but remember watching many videos on art to better my skill.

What is something you have a natural ability to do well (list a talent)?

I had a hard time with producing art that wasn't what was in my head and struggled to get better and love my art as my own critic. Many late nights of trial and error.

How could you combine these to describe a specific strength?

  • I'm artistic and creative

In your own words, what do these top 4 qualities tell you about yourself?

  • Nothing new. That I am a sensitive person who thrives off being positive and understanding with others. It told me I like to be in quiet places.

Do they resonate with you? Why/why not?

  • Yes because I've always known I am a sensitive person, but I didn't expect it to be that accurate.

How do they relate to the strength you wrote about in Prompt #1?

  • I feel like it takes a certain amount of self-awareness to make art that expresses yourself. If you are in-tune with yourself you can express yourself through art. Also I feel that art is an activity that is calm and relaxing, which is a space I enjoy.

Challenges with strengths

What can make it challenging to recognize your strengths? How can you work through those challenges?

  • People with negative head-spaces usually have a hard time finding the positives about themselves.

Do you ever see yourself overusing certain strengths? In what circumstances would you want to use them less and amplify other strengths? How could you adjust your approach in those instances?

  • I see myself overusing my ability to show kindness towards others. This can lead me to be pushed around. I would like to learn how to show others kindness and love without allowing myself to be taken advantage of. I could adjust my approach my offering kindness but drawing lines where people might use me for their own personal gain.

  • I enjoy having a hard deadline since it tends to cause stress and time restraint stress tends to help me be more productive.

How could you describe these working preferences to your project teammates? Your mentor? Your instructors?

  • I can explain the stress I receive from hard deadlines and how it's a positive.

What would you need to be aware of when working with people who have different strengths from you?

  • I would need to be aware of their strengths and weaknesses to adjust accordingly.

How could your Pairin results help you better understand your everyday working preferences?

  • They can help me understand how I would work in a team and figure out how to use my strengths to me and my team's benefit.

Continued growth

Is there any particular strength you’d like to sharpen while you’re at Turing? Any area you consider a weakness that you’d like to strengthen?

  • I would like to be able to be more vocal. I would also like to be able to step up into leadership roles.

What are some steps you could take here?

  • After a negative experience where during a breakout and was spoken over and my voice wasn't taken into consideration; I have started to step up and lead the discussion in further breakouts.

How could you be aware of the progress you’re making?

  • I am already aware of this.
