title: "Finding an audience for C Conf"
topics: [C, cconf.org, osuosl]
layout: post
---
"*Everyone uses C to implement interesting things.*" This was the core
idea that drove me to start working on The C Conference. From operating
systems, libraries, games and embedded devices C that is at the core of
the tech around us.
<img class="alignleft" src="http://www.cconf.org/assets/cconf.png" />
And every year there are conferences and meetings to discuss systems
built and used by C devlopers including GCC Summit, LLVM Dev Meetings,
Linux Plumbers Conference, BSDCONs and ANSI/ISO meetings to name a few.
But, to my knowledge there has never been a conference to discuss the
generally useful techniques, tools and systems coming out of all of
these challenging engineering feats.
Many people have asked, "oh, the C conference, hmm, which one?". A fair
question. C is certainly well represented but I want to build a place
for sharing knowledge between communities that write C everyday. Major
languges like Ruby or Javascript have these conferences, so why not C?
Lets give it a go. The C Conference is accepting proposals and talk
ideas through the end of Friday (June 8th) on [the reverse CFP][pfc].
It has been a lot of work and fun to reach into communities and projects
to get the talk ideas and proposals that have been posted so far. But, I
don't feel I have reached the full audience for this conference. Help
spread the word about [The C Conference][cconf] and [submit a proposal
today][pfc].
And maybe I have it all wrong, maybe the world doesn't need "The C
Conference".
