China has a nine years compulsory education. All citizens have to attend the education. The whole of nine years education is almost free, except the fee for textbooks and others. Before Republic’s government, there was a similar education act. It was a four years plan. At present, some rich provinces are trying a new education plan. It’s a 12 years education plan. It means the free education services will include high school.
The most important part of Chinese education is the National University Entrance Examination. The exam leads the education standards. Another word, it means the exam determine what knowledge should be taught in school.
During the Cultural evolution, the exam was stopped. Students couldn’t enter University. All the high education had been completely stopped.
The exam has so many changes. In the beginning, the whole countries' students did the same exam.  But some people found some cities’ students could enter same level university with lower scores than others. The reason is that those cities have fewer students and more quotes. The education minister tries to pretend the fact. The education in China isn’t equal. Afterwards, some rich cities or provinces have their special exams. Those are easier.
Another change is around the subject in the Exam. The basic subjects are Chinese, Mathematics and foreign language. You can choose one in English, Japanese, Russian or French. The other subjects are complicated. For me, I have to choose an area between social-science and natural-science.
After my exams, there are so many changes. Some provinces have totally different ways to choose subjects. Recently, some people proposed to remove foreign language from the exam. The government try to relief the students’ pressure via the changing subjects in the exams. This is why the how to choosing subjects becomes complicated and uncertain.
Besides the exams, students have another way to enter universities. The top universities have extra quotes to give excellent students opportunities. The universities hold an exam by themselves. The exams not only do a paperwork but also take part in an interview. But sadly that kind exam only open to the rich families. Because only that families have enough budgets to get an extra education beyond normal one.

Personally,  removing the foreign language from the exams is not a good idea. All the world's student's are learning a foreign language. Why Chinese students do not need to learn a new language.
