Housemate advertisement.
Have you dreamed of living walking distance from the University of Melbourne,
the fabulous restaurants of Lygon, the boutique coffee-shops of Rathdowne, the
bustling variety of Brunswick Street? I'm looking for housemates to join me in
Drummond Street, Carlton North, near the corner of Lee Street.
The location here is fantastic; there's a supermarket at the end of the street,
cafés and bakeries around the corner, libraries, parks, pharmacies,
post-office, University of Melbourne, and many, many restaurants all within
walking distance.
Down the middle of Drummond Street runs the most fabulous micropark, with a
tree and lush grass just outside the door, well within range of the house wifi
point. Drummond Street feels much more like a community, because people can be
found relaxing, working, and partying in the micropark. I've made some great
friends just by walking down the street.
Freshly installed polished floorboards are on the bottom floor, wall-to-wall
carpets on the top floor. There's a courtyard at the back with a small
vegetable garden, and lane-way access to a secure car-space (if you have a
car). Washer, dryer, and fridge are already here. The bathroom has both a bath
and shower, and the hot water pressure is excellent. The house has central
heating to keep you warm in the colder months.
You should have the means to reliably pay rent and bills, and be tolerant of
non-mainstream sexualities and lifestyle choices.
Your first housemate (Paul) is a charming and well-travelled chap who is fond
of adventure, costumes, science, stories, and coffee.  I do a lot of
photography, I'm handy with rope, and I'm quiet when at home, preferring to do
most of my adventuring around this fabulous city of ours.
Your second housemate (Claudine) is an academic, theologian, and feminist, who
is a killer computer programmer, and a skilled vegetarian chef; also quiet at
home.
Bonus points if you're familiar with steampunk, have interesting skills, know
what all the letters in LGBTQI stand for, walked in the zombie shuffle, like to
dress up, have a cool book collection, can speak in Klingon, have a strong
knowledge of psychology and/or behavioural economics, can sing the theme to
Ghostbusters, own a Van de Graaff generator, or know the airspeed of an unladen
swallow.  Extra bonus points if you can tell me something cool about yourself
which isn't on that list. :)
If you have problems with vegans, omnivores, atheists, theists, cyclists,
rationalists, software developers, feminists, pirates, scientists, circus
performers, immunologists, photographers, burlesque performers, or scuba
divers, then you might not fit in.  Sorry!
The house is available with a move-in window of the last week of January or
later.
Rent is approximately $167/week.  Bills (water, gas, electricity, Internet) to
be split evenly between all occupants.
No smoking inside (but you can use the courtyard if you wish).  No pets, sorry!
Photographs show upstairs bedroom with furnishings, but will be supplied to you
unfurnished.
Please feel free to contact me if you're interested, or have any questions.
Please also free to share this with your friends who may be interested.
If you call, then *please* leave a message if I don't answer.  Things are
pretty hectic over the new year period, and I'm not always in a position to
answer my phone.  Alternatively, text and e-mail work great! Thank you!
-- Paul
