drwn.io LICENSE

License

Ricardo Ander-Egg (the “Licensor”) grants you an on-going, non-exclusive license to use the Drawings (the “License”).

An individual license grants permission to the Licensee to access and use the Drawings (the “Individual License”).

A team license grants permission to all Employees and Contractors of the Licensee to access and use the Drawings (the “Team License”).

You can:

  • Use the Drawings to create unlimited End Products.
  • Modify the Drawings to create derivative components. Those components are subject to this License.
  • Use the Drawings to create unlimited End Products for unlimited Clients.
  • Use the Drawings to create End Products where the End Product is sold to End Users.
  • Use the Drawings to create End Products that are open source and freely available to End Users.

You cannot:

  • Use the Drawings to create End Products that are designed to allow an End User to build their own End Products using the Drawings or derivatives of the Drawings.
  • Re-distribute the Drawings or derivatives of the Drawings separately from an End Product, neither in code nor as design assets.
  • Share your access to the Drawings with any other individuals (Individual License) or outside your team (Team License).

The Public Drawings included in the library published at libraries.excalidraw.com by ourselves are subject to the MIT License.

Example usage

Examples of usage allowed by the license:

  • Creating a personal website by yourself.
  • Creating, among others, internal drawings, documentation, teaching materials, presentations, sketches, wireframes.
  • Creating a website or web application for a client that will be owned by that client.
  • Creating a commercial SaaS application where end users have to pay a fee to use the application.
  • Creating a commercial self-hosted web application that is sold to end users for a one-time fee.
  • Creating a web application where the primary purpose is clearly not to simply re-distribute the components (like a conference organization app that uses the components for its UI for example) that is free and open source, where the source code is publicly available.

Examples of usage not allowed by the license:

  • Creating a repository of your favorite drwn.io components (or derivatives based on drwn.io components) and publishing it publicly.
  • Redistributing the assets in any of their forms (images, SVGs, excalidraw files, excalidraw libraries, etc.).
  • Create an icon pack based on the drwn.io component designs.
  • Creating a "diagram builder" project where end users can build their own diagrams using components included with or derived from drwn.io.
  • Creating a theme, template, or project starter kit using the drawings and making it available either for sale or for free.

License Definitions

Client is an individual or entity receiving custom professional services directly from the Licensee, produced specifically for that individual or entity. Customers of software-as-a-service products are not considered clients for the purpose of this document.

Contractor is an individual or business entity contracted to perform services for the Licensee.

Drawings are the excalidraw/SVG files made available to the Licensee after purchasing a drwn.io License Key.

Employee is a full-time or part-time employee of the Licensee.

End Product is any artifact produced that incorporates the Drawings or derivatives of the Drawings.

End User is a user of an End Product.

Licensee is the individual who has purchased an Individual License Key or the business entity who has purchased a Team License Key.

License Key is the key the Licensee receives after purchasing the License, either through Gumroad or other means.

Public Drawings are the excalidraw/excalidrawlib/SVG/PNG files made available in the library published at libraries.excalidraw.com by Ricardo Ander-Egg or Victor de la Plaza.

Liability

The Licensor’s liability to you for costs, damages, or other losses arising from your use of the Drawings — including third-party claims against you — is limited to a refund of your license fee. The Licensor may not be held liable for any consequential damages related to your use of the Drawings.

This License is governed by the laws of Spain. Legal proceedings related to this License may only be brought before the courts of Barcelona.

Trademarks and removals

If you are the owner of one of the logos and want them removed, let us know and we will handle it as soon as possible. Some logos may be registered trademarks, we don't claim any authorship on those logos.

TL;DR

In simple terms, use drwn.io for anything you like except for projects that compete with drwn.io and would have a negative impact on it.

You can use the Drawings for whatever you want except redistributing or reselling them in any of their forms, separated or packaged. You can include them in other paid end products not directly related to the drawings.

You can use them for any free, open-source or educational project. Those drwn.io drawings are subject to this license.
