While doing the trial run, we noticed a few destination added as names in the motorway junction node. This system of tagging is not the usual one in destination tagging protocol.

They are added as name=Boul. Saint-Martin instead of destination=Boul. Saint-Martin or destination:street=Boul. Saint-Martin And these tags are added to the node instead of the way.

The OSM Wiki of destination tags.

example

The destination tags are usually added on the ways. Exit-to tags are added on the nodes. There are few cases with destination added as the name tag on the node instead of the way. Is it right norm or is it okay to move the destination tag to the way instead of the node by adding appropriate destination based tags?

example

Are these the followed way of adding destination tags for highways? Or is it okay if we could alter the name=* tags to appropirate destination=* tags.

Also, destination:street is used for tagging destinations that is a street or an avenue or a boulevard. Example: destination:street=Don Valley Parkway. These are either added in name tags or in some places, just destination tags. Is it okay to change these to the appropriate tags.

name tags are respresented as blue circles

These are the doubts. It would be great to hear your feedback about this and on the workflow.
