the red keys are ones I never press, the orange ones rarely press enable key remapping by pressing Progrm + F12, then sequences of keys: press they key you want it to be first, then the key you will press to get that

version 2 transition notes

the mac/windows mode seems to be more significant now. at least different. I'll figure out Windows later, but for now, it looks like it's a good rule to switch mac mode (Program + F5) immediately, and never switch out.

power user mode

To activate Power User Mode, press and hold the Program Key and the Shift Key, and then tap the Escape Key. Important Note: If you accidentally tap Esc before pressing Shift, you will generate a Status Report. All four LED indicator lights will flash four times to indicate Power User Mode has been activated, and two times to indicate when it has been deactivated. Note: When Power User Mode is active, a new line on the Status Report will appears to indicate this. When it is inactive, it is not listed in the Status Report (which you get using Progrm + Esc)

general setting

  • reset everything: Progm + Shift + F2
  • turn off key clicks: Progm + F8
  • switch to mac mode: Progm + F5

setup hotkey layout

  • create the layout: Program + F2, Num Lock LED wil flash, then tap hotkey "g"
  • activate the layout: Program + G
  • edit the layout: Program + F1, replace the g_qwerty.txt file

remap - as the 3rd piece of info on each line, I list the code from the layout file, which is oriented backwards from how you assign them interactively

  • Esc --> Tab --> [tab]>[escape]
  • Tab --> Caps Lock --> [caps]>[tab]
  • [{ --> Down Arrow --> [down]>[obrack]
  • ]} --> [{ --> [obrack]>[cbrack]
  • Down Arrow --> ]} --> [cbrack]>[down]
  • Option (labeled Alt) --> left side \ --> [intl-]>[lalt]
  • Delete --> Alt --> lalt]>[delete]
  • Back Space --> Ctrl (left) --> [lctrl]>[bspace]
  • Cmd (labeled Windows) --> Delete --> [delete]>[rwin]
  • Ctrl (left) --> Back Space --> [bspace]>[lctrl]

use Karabiner-Elements instead of this if possible, this macro approach has a bit of weirdness

  • Backslash --> Underscore --> {lshift}{hyphen}>{speed9}{\}
  • Underscore --> Backslash --> {\}>{speed9}{-lshift}{hyphen}{+lshift}
