This is a guide to setup Arch Linux in Raspberry Pi 4, using macOS as the auxiliary system.

Raspberry Pi Setup Guide

This guide will use either a macOS or an ArchLinux base system, to prepare a microSD card with Arch Linux for Raspberry Pi.

If someone managed to do the initial setup using Windows, please let me know, so I can add to this guide.

This guide will be verbose at times for some simple tasks. This is intended to help people just starting out, so it's not confusing. If something confuses you, let me know and I'll try my best to answer it.

 • Unicode-compatible fonts and terminals (I use iTerm2 + Menlo)

For Mac users, I highly recommend iTerm 2 + Solarized Dark

Setup podman and nvidia-container-runtime

How to setup nvidia-container-runtime and podman/runc

Podman is such a cool project! However, there is no easy way to setup the nvidia-container-runtime and podman so that we can run unprivileged container in a gpu host. This is specially interesting in environments with multiple people accessing the same host (strong isolation between containers!!!).

Steps to setup the whole system

 1. Install podman and friends (buildah and skopeo)

Ubuntu: add-apt-repository -y ppa:projectatomic/ppa && apt install podman buildah skopeo

Fix OpenSSL certificate errors on Ruby 2.0

The reason why you might get certificate errors in Ruby 2.0 when talking HTTPS is because there isn't a default certificate bundle that OpenSSL (which was used when building Ruby) trusts.

Update: this problem is solved in edge versions of rbenv and RVM.

$ ruby -rnet/https -e "Net::HTTP.get URI('https://github.com')"
net/http.rb:917:in `connect': SSL_connect returned=1 errno=0 state=SSLv3
 read server certificate B: certificate verify failed (OpenSSL::SSL::SSLError)

You can work around the issue by installing a certificate bundle that you trust. I trust Mozilla and curl.
