How to install Standalone toolchain for Android

HOWTO Cross compiling on Android

5W1H

What is NDK

NDK (Native Develop Toolkit) is a toolchain from Android official, originally for users who writes native C/C++ code as JNI library. It's not designed for compiling standalone programs (./a.out) and not compatible with automake/cmake etc.

What is Standalone Toolchain

"Standalone" refers to two meanings:

  1. The program is standalone (has nothing connect to NDK, and don't need helper scripts to run it)
  2. The toolchain is made for building standalone programs and libs, and which can used by automake etc.

(Optional) Why NDK is hard to use

By default, NDK uses android flavor directory structure when it's finding headers and libs, which is different from GNU flavor, so the compiler cannot find them. For Example:

Cut middle out from some video with ffmpeg
# First we cut the video in how many parts we want
# Step 1. cut the first part of the video and cut it to a separate file
ffmpeg.exe -ss 00:00:00.000 -t 00:02:18.00 -i recording-full.flv -c:v copy -c:a copy recording-full-part1.flv
# Step 2. cut the second part from original video
ffmpeg.exe -ss 00:03:47.000 -i recording-full.flv -c:v copy -c:a copy recording-full-part2.flv
# Step 3. create a file with your cut parts to concat into one video with these contents and name it whatever (i.e. videos.txt):
file 'C:\Path\To\recording-full-part1.flv'

NokiaTool - simple interface Bash script for MediaTek-based Nokia simple phones

NokiaTool: control MediaTek-based Nokia phones from your PC

Overview

NokiaTool is a simple Bash script (nokiatool.sh) that allows you to use an undocumented serial connection in USB-enabled MediaTek-based Nokia feature phones manufactured by Microsoft (even the most basic ones, like the new 105) in order to control them from your PC.

This project is an ongoing work and uses only some bits and pieces of information about the phone internals available to the public, so under any circumstances don't consider it stable or a replacement for official tools if any are present.
