What is my iPhone really used for?

  1. Music.
  2. Camera.
  3. GPS Navigation.
  4. ForeFlight.
  5. iMessaging.
  6. Phone calls.
  7. Health monitoring (e.g., trails tracking, step count).

Everything else is ancillary.

Music

Easy.

  1. Buy an iPod Classic. Sync music from computer.
  2. Burn CDs for the car of playlists.

Camera

Buy a Sony mirrorless camera. ~$500 USD. Start carrying that when you want to take pictures!

GPS Navigation

  1. Buy a dedicated, Garmin GPS.

Cons:

  1. You lose police reports from Waze and traffic from Google Maps.

ForeFlight

Just have to use the iPad for ForeFlight.

iMessaging / Phone calls

  1. Buy a dumb phone. Just have to tell folks I'm not iMessaging anymore. Text me or add me on an IM thing.

Health monitoring

  1. Buy a Garmin watch.
  2. Do nothing! This isn't super required.
