DuckDuckGo recently announced it would be down-ranking "sites associated with Russian disinformation". This raises serious concerns for independent journalists and media organizations who will get locked out of search rankings for having done little more than refuse to be the stenographers of the powerful within the US and its client states. The expanding definition of what constitutes Russian affiliation (or affiliation with any foreign threat to US hegemony) shows no sign of stopping. Before simply switching to Yandex or Baidu in protest, recognize that the power to evade corporate censorship is literally in the palm of your hand.
