Enable and Disable Android Accessibility Settings from the Command Line using ADB (Font scale, talkback, color blind)

Using ADB to control Accessbility settings for easier testing with Android Emulators + Real Devices

It's a lot easier to test accessibility on the fly using ADB. This gist attempts to make the days of navigating through the Android device settings UI to change Accessibility settings obsolete.

These ADB commands will hopefully encourage Android developers to test and use their apps with common Accessiblility settings enabled.

Credit to James Nitsch for inspiring this, and for figuring out the put commands to enable these settings.

Steps to integrate experimented JSC

Intro

Here are the steps to integrate experimented JavaScriptCore. Hopefully this could solve the JSC crash issue on RN 0.59.

Steps (for RN 0.59)

  1. yarn add 'jsc-android@next'
  2. Modify build.gradle files.
diff --git a/android/app/build.gradle b/android/app/build.gradle

How to use profiling in production mode for react-dom

React recently introduced an experimental profiler API. This page gives instructions on how to use this API in a production release of your app.

Table of Contents

Profiling in production

React DOM automatically supports profiling in development mode for v16.5+, but since profiling adds some small additional overhead it is opt-in for production mode. This gist explains how to opt-in.

Bridge React-Native and JS

Content of the Gist is from a talk by Peggy Rayzis at Chain React 2017: Chain React 2017: Breaking Down Bridging in React Native by Peggy Rayzis

In order for a native code to talk to JS you would need a bridge.

  • You need to integrate a third-party SDK.
  • High perfomance is crutial
  • You are building a brownfiel app
  • You need access to a platform to a platform API. (Camera, Gyroscope etc.), You will need to use a opensource library or create a bridge.

Install LT4 21.1 on Jetson TK1

For best results, you should read through the official NVIDIA documentation found on:

https://developer.nvidia.com/linux-tegra-rel-21

In particular, the Quick Start Guide.

For this process you will need:

  • A host desktop or laptop computer running Ubuntu Linux 12.04 is officially recommended. In practice, this may be a virtual machine, I have used VirtualBox in the past. Also, I've successfully flashed from Ubuntu Linux 14.04. Your mileage may vary.
  • Micro USB cable provided with the Jetson TK1 kit
  • Jetson TK1 and power supply
