When I was in Grade 3, I built my first website and my first few programs.
When I was in Grade 5, I started my own YT Channel (now defunct, of course) for programming and CS theory, and in Grade 7, I started my very first Coding Club at school.
Back then, everything that I did was secure. My code was mine, and that was it. My reasoning for that decision? Nobody wanted to see it anyways.
However, in Grade 8, everything changed.
In Grade 8, I found Hack Club. I found a community of people just like me. I found individuals that were willing to look past themselves to help others no matter what. I found people from all around the world, all wanting to build amazing projects with me.
It's been an amazing journey, changing from the 3rd grader that was afraid of the terminal, to the 14-year-old Angular developer that I am now.
It's been a privilege to help out the community every way I can, and I'm ready to begin the next chapter.
Yesterday, I had a call with Hack Club HQ. The result of that call? The beginnings of Hack Club Canada. We're starting to build a highly connected network of the high schoolers with a genuine passion for making the world a better place. A centralized place for the makers. The designers. The programmers. The hackers.
Sign ups start soon, and if you're a motivated teenager that welcomes change, puts aside your own values to help out others, and is incredibly passionate about making, then PM me! I'd love to keep you updated on the plan for next year.
